West Plano toward the Dallas North Tollway and east Plano toward US-75 are different daily lives. We ask which one you drive before we suggest a house that looks fine on a map and fails at 7:40 a.m. Adjacent jobs in Richardson, Frisco, and far north Dallas are part of the same north-metro pattern.
Plano ISD and the neighboring Collin districts are often the entire reason a family wants to stay. We do not promise a zone. We do treat “kids stay in this district” as a hard constraint when you say it.
Border claims may fit Frisco, Richardson, Allen, or McKinney better than a long drive into Dallas County. If work is actually in Dallas proper, see Dallas. We would rather match the commute than force a Plano label.
The Legacy corridor between Preston Road and the Dallas North Tollway holds Toyota Motor North America’s headquarters and major JPMorgan Chase, Capital One, and Liberty Mutual campuses. Frito-Lay (PepsiCo), JCPenney, Pizza Hut, Cinemark, and Tyler Technologies are also based in Plano, so many relocations here are employer-driven.
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Plano, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, Medical City Plano, and Children’s Health Children’s Medical Center Plano are all in town.
Plano ISD serves most of central and south Plano, but parts of the city, especially north Plano, are zoned to Frisco ISD, with other pockets in Richardson, Allen, or Lewisville ISD. Always confirm a campus by address.
Legacy West, Willow Bend, Downtown Plano, and east Plano are distinct areas, and the city is mostly built out with mature neighborhoods. The Dallas North Tollway, US-75, SH-190 (President George Bush Turnpike), SH-121, and DART’s Red Line serve it, with Collin College’s Spring Creek campus and UT Dallas nearby. Hail and freeze are the usual claim causes.
